Oh dear...

I think ive just experienced one of the most exciting things in my life..... was on the bus on the way home from school after pbl when suddenly the guy next to me leaned forward cause the guy sitting next to him had started to lean on him... at first i thought they were playing but then i noticed that the guy was shaking uncontrollably, his eyes were kind of fluttering, his fists were clenched, he was drooling... basically he was having a fit.. it was kind of scary cause i suddenly just blanked out! Though i did manage to catch him and stop him from falling down i really didnt know what else to do!

Thankfully there was a lady who seemed to know what to do and told me to turn him to his side (for those interested and dont know yet, its to ensure that if he happened to vomit only one of his lungs would get 'filled' as apposed to both if he were to lie flat). All i could think of was stuffing something in his mouth so he wouldnt bite his tongue but thankfully i didnt do it cause the doctor said its causes more harm than good.

Anyway, it was kind of interesting cause his entire body was really tensed up and rigid (and we were talking abt something like it in PBL a while ago...erm...upper motor neuron damage??? doubt it...) and after the fit started to subside i could feel his whole body loosen up and become limp. Yeah so we lay him on the floor and rushed him to the nearest clinic (thankfully there was one on the bus route along bukit timah). After a while he suddenly regained his senses but he was really surprised to find himself lying on the floor... Kind of amazing really...like he didnt have any memory of what had happened for the past 4-5mins. So yeah we managed to convince him to go to the clinic (he was reluctant at first or maybe he just wasnt lucid) and the doctor gave him some meds (apparently the guy knew abt his fits and just hadnt taken his medication that day or something) and after that it was all fine. The nice lady and her husband, who helped me support him to the clinic, even gave the guy $10 to take a cab back (cause he had no money) and the doctor didnt charge for the medication! :D!

But yeah, what really worries me is how i didnt know how to react at all! i think i would have just stood there dumbly holding the guy up if the lady hadnt told me to me to turn him to his side... i guess im not expected to know exactly what to do yet being only an M1 (even though we r first aid certified) but i expected myself to at least know some basic stuff...haha...maybe i shouldnt have told the lady and her husband (after we had sent the guy home in a cab) that i was a med student in NUS... haha... wont be surprised if they send a letter telling them how lousy their med students r....all cause of me....hahahahaha! And i guess i really cant do emergency medicine... oh well...

Vicky

Alamak, he's famous already, because my friends are talking about him too, and there's a nice pdf that shows him playing too:

I don't know if any of you noticed, but our dear Victor Li was in the papers the other day!
Okay so it was just one sentence, but it was an important sentence!

I don't remember exactly what day it was, but if I'm not mistaken, it's in Life- the one featuring the story about how learning to play the organ is catching on in Singapore.
But just in case you can't be bothered to read the whole article or find the sentence... it basically says that Vic won the Orange County Organ competition in the States. And (again if I'm not wrong) he'll be going back some time later this year to compete again.

I don't know much about organs and these competitions, but apparently it was quite prestigious, and hey... it's great for his application to music college!

Yay Vic!

RANT!

Yay! just watched the episode of heroes which i missed! it really was good! things r actually moving more! yeah...now i need to find a way to tape the episodes im going to miss in june...

im starting to get more and more irritated with taking public transport....especially at peak hour! taking mrt is really really bad.... cause of all the inconsiderate ppl who insist on crowding around the door waiting to rush in, staring through the glass panels as if there was no one waiting to get out, expecting u to try and push through the human wall! sometimes i really feel like just being rude and shoving ppl out of my way....... doesnt it make sense to stand at a side and let ppl get out quick so u can get on quickly too without pushing and squeezing? why squeeze in the first place? isnt it an uncomfortable feeling pushing against absolute strangers? its not like the doors will close in 5 seconds or something....so irritating!

and buses arent much better either!....okay acutally buses r alot better but just had a rather unpleasant experience today so i decided to just vent my frustration....why must ppl spit on the floor? after church i got on the bus and sat at one of the empty seats... but when i put my foot down i felt my leg slide a short distance forward and when i looked down i saw this small puddle of spit! it was sooooo disgusting! it really was a puddle! i really felt sick after that and i got off at the next bus stop to scrub my shoe on the grass....

i hate public transport....cant wait to get my driving license ....and hopefully my parents will let me use their car...sigh... but anyway...4 more days!

All Will Be Fine

Hello Med people! Would like to say, rest early, don't worry too much, and commit the rest, and everything will be fine.

Oh well, just take it as a good sneeze, whatever you think this line means.

I think it would be great to have sylar's original powers if u were a doctor cause u can just see whats wrong with the person with one look! Cool! Haha...still cant believe i missed it....sigh...

For those in army, dont worry ur time will come! Anyway, was talking to my cousin at dinner and he recommended going to spain in the first week of july... to go RUNNING WITH THE BULLS!!!!!! Hahaha...he said it is really fun...so...marc, xiwern...up for a change in plans?? Hahahaha! pokemon!

i'm posting mainly because i don't want to see my pic staring at me like that whenever i come to this page. i'm sad to admit that it's very discomfiting. haha. makes me a bit squeamish, in fact... haha. in the past (i remember telling this to daryl) i used to make faces at myself in the mirror when i was tired of studying. sometimes, i'd really get freaked out cuz i'd think that the reflection had a life of its own.. haha.. those good ole days.. anyway, since we're (or i am) talking about mirrors and reflections and stuff, have you ever found it curious that when you look straight into a mirror, even if you glance right, left, up, down, or wherever, you still find your reflection staring right back at you, with its pupils dead in the centre? haha. of course it's only cuz you're only able to see that image only when your pupils are really in the centre.. but yeah quite funny eh.
of course you can tell i'm rambling. i'm bored, inane and vacuous. blehhhh. i think i'm going to go now. i should have written enough to bump that pic down. hahaha. i'm going to watch tv now. haha.

Eh

I'm sure most of you remember ragging...

Well apparently the current J1s (who got ragged some time back) went to complain to the VP, saying they were abused and stuff. And so the VP went to talk to our direct juniors- the J3s to find out what really happened. I don't know what happened after that, but seriously... WAHLAO EH! DAMN SPOILSPORT!

Ergh.
