Ragging Part 2

Just for your information:

1) Ragging this Saturday starts at 5 pm (don't ask me why).

2) Kai wants to meet us tomorrow for dinner and/or movie, but Wei-Liang is a lousy coordinator so I don't know what's happening.

3) Ragging day/Saturday/20th Jan is Paul's birthday... but he might not go for ragging so =/

Yay! Stage One Passed!

What I Learnt Today

If you make "meringues" using whisked egg white and sugar, then what does whisking egg yolks with sugar give you? You get "blanchir", which originates from the French word for "to whiten" or "to bleach", which is essentially a whitening of the thick yellow yolk into a paler yellow paste. You end up with a really good custard like-filling for pastries.

Dimensional Retroanalysis

Riemann is a genius! Although I'd probably need good Math sense like Ken Tay to do the Math, but I guess appreciating it is enough. But I would never imagine what geometry in four dimensions could look like... well, even have a shape that can be retro-extrapolated back to three dimensions! Just goes to show that one doesn't need the wisdom of four dimensions to struggle around in the three dimensional world.

I kinda just thought of something: A three dimensional object casts a two dimensional shadow in a three dimensional world. It is then possible to cast a single-dimensional shadow in a three dimensional world if you use a two dimensional object. And if you cast a shadow using a single dimensional object, then you'd get a point shadow, one that has zero dimensions.

Now... if you cast a shadow using a four dimensional object, you must then be able to get a three dimensional shadow. I'd like to think of it as... how come... we can see certain things, certain people, and yet, they're not there. After all, they're just a shadow of their former self. It's up to you to think about it.

I really think the amazing (yes Christine, for a lack of a better word... sigh) thing about Relativity is how it links science and religion together, and yet it provides a platform for you to explain some things religion and science could never explain. Philosophy, economics and social issues, are also described in the theory of relativity.

Don't believe me? Well, too bad lor. It's really an all encompassing subject.

Happy New Year!

Its 2007! Whee! Happy new year!!! I just got back a few hours ago and i only slept 1hr on the plane and im not tired!!! Anyway, Italy was wonderful! Amazing sites, lovely weather and EXCELLENT food (well most of it at least)! Okay so the weather wasnt too great in venice cause there was this constant dense fog and it was FREEZING cold so much that my hands couldnt stop shaking which made taking photos really hard....but still at least it didnt rain! Oh yeah, in florence we went to see Michelangelo's David and its pretty anatomically accurate! Could see the cephalic, basilic and jugular veins, and u could distinguish the gastrocnemius from the...soleus?Yeah, anyway, for something done in the 1500's its really amazing! I really cant look at statues the same way ever again....

The only thing which i really didnt like was the large number of pigeons! They were in the hundreds! Its crazy! And along with the pigeons comes their droppings...yikes... pigeon poop paradise... u really had to watch where u stepped! And there was hardly any grass in all 3 cities...which makes it quite hard on the eyes... but all in all it was great! Hope you all had a great christmas and new year too!
