You're Wrong!

Daryl, as a Physics student, I find it wanting and necessary to inform you that:

Double-glazed windows are used to retain heat by retardation of convection and conduction mechanisms. Not sound.

For sound you need a triple-glazed window.

Oh well, in good jest. Actually people used to have double-glazed. So actually, you're right. But...

Oh well.

Dream on...

Ive been dreaming a lot lately.... mostly good dreams but one or two have been pretty horrible... but yeah i think its cause of studying...some how it just seems to keep ur mind awake even when u r sleeping! And its not that im studying 10hrs a day or anything like that...im not even studying 6 like i planned to! And i dont even study late at night so there shouldnt be a reason as to why my mind stays awake......Really is quite terrible since i dont get really good sleep when i dream...

Anyway, my favourite dream of the week was last night's! I WON SURVIVOR!!!! $1,000,000 and a Pontiac!! I dont know if the pontiac is really one of the prizes but yeah...guess thats why it was a dream..But i was so excited cause it seemed very real even though i had this nagging feeling it wasnt.... so yeah, went abt spending it all! Went to europe and stayed at all the nicest hotels and had the best food! I was super happy! I guess it was my subconcious hard at work, trying to help me live out my 'dream' vacation (knowing that this june, in this sad sad reality, i wont be living in the lap of luxury like in the dream)... well it was good while it lasted.... think i was having breakfast in some cafe in france when i was woken up by the noisy little children playing in the playground outside... i really need to get double glazed windows...

Sigh...

Good Grief!

~Haha, but it was fun.~

Woohoo! I think CSP is super fun, the Medicine PSC scholars are certainly missing out on something great!

Will blog more next time when I'm free.

Good luck to all the Medicine people having CAs!

And yay, I'm quite happy with my Physics results, haha.

~Do your best!~

Memorable

~Hee.~

I feel so much better after all four exams! Here's some quotes again:

Last night, during Band:
Mr Leonard Tan: Band, playing in tune is a matter of conscience!
YYK/Daniel: Eh? He trying to say we got no conscience is it?

Mr Leonard Tan: I thank you all for your punctuality...

Someone saunters in...

Mr Leonard Tan: I... thank you all here for your punctuality.

Mr Leonard Tan: Tubas! Bring out your melody! Move more! Move more!
YYK/Daniel: Sigh, our melody is four notes only, where got time to move?

Mr Leonard Tan: Bass Drum? Whack that note and bring it out! It's your one-note solo!
YYK: Now you know how a tuba feels!

Mr Leonard Tan: Alright, Tubas, cut that part out, I've decided to make it a percussion solo. Mmhmm, and we'll drop the trio also. And... yes, leave out the last note for the bass drum solo.
Daniel: Wah lau eh, then we might as well quit band already lor!
YYK: Huh? Why?
Daniel: This whole piece we only playing thirteen bars lor.

Mr Leonard Tan: Alright, melody people, bar 33!
Daniel: Woohoo!
Mr Leonard: And no, Tubas, that doesn't mean you.

Yesterday, after Modern Physics Mid Term Exam:
YYK: Ben! Dinner?
Ben Ng: Sure.

And a conversation ensues...

Ben Ng: Army was fun, I guess.
YYK: Oh I've a lot of jokes, here's the Eagle Company buddy joke. It was the first week, and then when Eagle company enlisted on December 3, we heard: "One more week to POP loh, P-O-P-O-P!" And then the Sergeant asked us: "Eagle Company! Who's your buddy company?" And then we said "eh... DRAGON COMPANY!" Then the Sergeant barked: "No lah, can't you see FALCON is graduating? Come, let's go clean up their company!
Ben Ng: Haha, and then?
YYK: Then when Dragon P-O-P-ed, the Sergeant asked again: Eagle company? Who's your buddy company? Then we said: "Falcon company!" Then he said: "No lah... can't you see they P-O-P-ed already? Now Dragon going out, so Dragon's your buddy company! Come, let's clean it up!"
Ben Ng: Huh?
YYK: Then you know they postponed our POP three times? So we could graduate with the enhanced batch? And then the most screwed-up thing was that, we postponed our graduation until the next batch of Eagle company enlisted, and we were still stuck in BMT.
Ben Ng: Then how?
YYK: Easy. We moved to School 2, Ninja Coy. Then the Sergeant asked: "Eagle company? Who's your buddy company?" Then we retorted: "Falcon or Dragon company!" Then he said: "WRONG LAH! POP ALREADY LEH! Can't you see you're in school 2? It's Ninja company! Come, let's go clean it up!"

---------------------------------
In retrospect I've only one thing to recall about this week:

Zhiguang: Remember, you've a big problem, you've a bigger God. (2005)

I think this entire week I'm constantly reminded of that fact, with so many people to fall back on, even in hall, and with so band practices every night, lab reports to rush and exams to mug for, I think certain things have turned out amazing.

Like how the assignment I couldn't rush out in time was postponed just when I was about to give up trying.

Like how the lab session before my examination didn't have enough time to finish, but my lab tutor came along to help us out.

Like how I still managed to wake up on time.

Like how I panicked yesterday, but stopped to pray after a while, and it was good.

Like how I couldn't finish studying, but yet I had peace of mind to go for my examinations.

Like how I had friends to help me with the chemistry practical report I couldn't rush in time.

Like how although there were three nights of Band before each examination, but each time, Band was interesting and took away the stress.

Like how dinner this week always had someone by my side, and I never felt so lousy because I could complain.

Like how I have someone I can complain to and sms.

Like how I've a mum who constantly reminds me to pray.

Like how Ben Ng reminded me to pray.

Like how at the end of the day, I feel satsified with what has turned out.

Like how the USP side is so kind to help me out with the China CSP programme even when I don't have time for them.

And like how the juniors' messages about their A Levels cheered me up. =)

What The

~No!~

Things that made a one hour nap a nightmare:

(1) Looking up into my lecturer's eyes and hearing: "You're missing the point of this entire debate!" and replying: "You're way too old to be saying that Madam." and hearing her retort: "I was from MGS too okaeeee~"

(2) Dreaming that Weiting stabbed me because I... uh... actually I didn't even do anything lah. Or maybe it's because I threw away her harmonica ticket by mistake.

(3) Roku-san-roku-nana no hachi-ni-san-yon! In two seconds! Ahhhh!

(3) Waking up to a cold sweat because of the final scene in my dream: "Yong Kiat! Stop pulling my ponytail!"

I fear retribution in the near future.

~Heck.~

You Do That Even As I Whisper

~Give thanks.~

This week was horrible. Next week is terrible. Four exams in a row! Band every night! Two practicals! Two lab reports to rush! And a lousy assignment to hand up.

But... I think... Things are not as bad as they seem. Because... well... yeah, things did happen.

Just felt like posting this; in any crisis, just keep the faith.

~He does it in a way no one knows.~

God save our Land and Heaven bless our ACS forever!

happy 121st birthday ACS!
happy 30th birthday ACJC!
thank you bishop william fritzjames oldham, for founding ACS!

this is us who showed up minus wei-liang who could not be found.

that's after he was found.

we didn't get one with ms tang.. i just realized. :(

anyway, it was good to be back although somehow things, though always quite the same, feels a bit different=/ i think we're growing old very fast. when they called out all those old alumni from 30, 20, 10 years ago etc, i felt that that really could have been me. ahh. haha. oh well.

i wrote a poem to describe how i feel:

GATHER ye rosebuds while ye may,

Old time is still a-flying :

And this same flower that smiles to-day

To-morrow will be dying.

The glorious lamp of heaven, the sun,

The higher he's a-getting,

The sooner will his race be run,

And nearer he's to setting.

That age is best which is the first,

When youth and blood are warmer ;

But being spent, the worse, and worst

Times still succeed the former.

Then be not coy, but use your time,

And while ye may go marry :

For having lost but once your prime

You may for ever tarry.

haha ok actually a guy called robert herrick wrote that--to the virgins make much of time--not me. i couldn't do so for my life. but anyway this poem is apt not just because of it's carpe diem theme, but also cuz of something else=D=D=D

congratulations to you if you're reading this! we're very happy for you:)

ok anyway i think i have to go now. happy founder's day!

hm

yay it works i think.

Blog Moved

Hi guys, I've moved the blog over to Google and I may have accidentally made the email address linked to the username scone0405 my own. =/

But anyway the main thing is that it's now here so those of you have have switched but not been able to blog can now do so by logging into the New Blogger thing with your email account. Yong Kiat and Aaron are both using their hotmail so I don't think it's necessary to have gmail... but then I'm not very sure.

However if you DO want gmail for its wonderful archiving features and stuff, you can ask me... I've got lots of invitations. =)

So now that it's working, BLOG MORE!

...

Er... maybe not the Medicine people though. We should be studying! STUDYSTUDYSTUDY!

Nani surun da yo~

~Oh my goodness gracious.~

Have I mentioned how I absolute loathe trials and tribulations? While the whole of ACJC and practically the whole world was celebrating Founder's Day, I endured three hours of hellish purgatory in LT 14 - who knew Japanese exams took so long?

In any case, the shock came during the Listening Comprehension part:

Sensei: Anou... mina-san, time for listening part. Listen carefully to the sound clips, kiitekudasai i yo!
YK: woah, nowadays exams use windows media player to play their listening sound clips!

And you wouldn't believe the frequency of those sound waves I saw through the visualization on the windows media player...

Sound clip: Please note down the telephone number as mentioned in the following conversation - anou... sumimasen, Tan-san no denwa bango wa nan ban desu ka? Ee-to, kyu-hachi-nana-yon no roku-go-san-roku desu.
YK: (staring at the sound clip) what the heck! He said the number in two second?!?!?!?!

Oh well. Lucky I got it.

But then... I couldn't get the last one:

Sound clip: (in English, for your convenience) what is today if three days after the day before yesterday two days ago was one day after Monday?
YK: what the heck! I can't even get that if you said that in English lah! Oh man...

What the heck is Takeda Sensei thinking? I'm a Singaporean!!

Oh well. But I think I got 47/50, so not that bad! Hopefully it's an A!

I hope.

Oh well, Happy Founder's Day!
